Argos executive Bertrand Bodson was this week named “U.K. Chief Digital Officer of the Year 2016” by CDO Club, an honor that recognizes extraordinary effort in online retail. Congratulations to Mr. Bodson on this achievement.
Argos is the third largest U.K. retailer after Amazon and eBay, offering over 33,000 products — everything from furniture and electronics to clothing, jewelry, toys, and more — available for purchase via websites, mobile, telephone, and around 800 physical stores. The company has spent a significant effort to nurture the omnichannel experience for its customers, with Mr. Bodson playing a major role in Argos’ digital transformation into a multichannel retail leader with over a billion visits online per year.
“The online and mobile initiatives led by Mr. Bodson have helped Argos to become the first U.K. retailer to hit £1 billion in revenue via mobile. More than 50% of its business is now digital, including 30% from mobile channels,” CDO Club stated in the announcement.
“I’m incredibly proud of how much Argos now thinks and behaves, moving at an incredible pace and being brave to try new things to do an even better job for our customers,” Bodson said in a statement.
Congratulations again to both Mr. Bodson and ForeSee partner Argos on the much deserved recognition. You can read the full announcement here.
