Partnership for Public Service event highlights excellence in our federal workforce
Since 2002, the Partnership for Public Service has honored noteworthy federal government achievements with the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals, or the “Sammies.” This year, Verint was proud to sponsor the event, held virtually for the first time.
Hosted by actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani—and with special appearances from Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Bono, Bryan Cranston, Kristen Bell, Stephen Colbert, and many others—this year’s Sammies were awarded to public servants in eight categories. Winners included:
- Federal Employee of the Year: Dr. Anthony Fauci, for his response to the COVID-19 pandemic and his infectious disease response efforts across six administrations.
- The 2020 Paul A. Volcker Career Achievement Medal: Dr. Ira Pastan, for his work at the National Institute’s of Health’s National Cancer Institute.
- The Management Excellence Medal: Dr. Neil C. Evan, Kathleen L. Frisbee, and Dr. Kevin Galpin, of the Department of Veterans Affairs, for the development of telehealth services at the agency.
- The Safety, Security and International Affairs Medal: Donna F. Dodson, for her significant role in developing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Watch the whole event to learn more about the talented and dedicated people working for our federal government, and to get inspired about the power of public service.
